In the County Council elections on 4 May, Labour failed to take Newnham from the Liberal Democrats but in other wards in Cambridge Labour’s results were encouraging. This election was fought on new boundaries so comparisons with previous years are complicated. However, essentially, Labour lost none of the wards it previously held and gained one when Claire Richards was elected for Labour in Castle ward.
