Last Wednesday, Daniel Zeichner, Cambridge’s Labour MP, arranged a public meeting at Cambridge Rugby Club in Newnham, where there was a wide ranging discussion of the potential effects of Brexit on environmental protection and measures to mitigate against climate change. Daniel was joined on the panel by Kerry McCarthy, former Shadow Environment Secretary, Martin Garratt from Cambridge Clean Tech and Newnham’s own Anne Miller, Director of the Creativity Partnership.

It is clear that a great deal of work will be required to ensure that environmental protections built into European legislation that currently protect the British environment and limit climate damage are not lost when Britain leaves the EU. Daniel undertook to do his utmost to ensure that the government does not allow any relaxation of important protections.
